SACRAMENTO - Today, Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco)’s Senate Bill 836 into law. It becomes law immediately. SB 836 re-enacts the safeguards from SB 785 (Wiener, 2018), which protected a person’s immigration status in a public court record, unless the presiding judge determined that immigration status was relevant information. This legislation had a sunset date of January 1, 2022, so it has now expired.

SACRAMENTO - Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) legislation to address the student and faculty housing shortage, Senate Bill 886, passed the Assembly by a vote of 70-2. It now heads to the Senate for final sign-off before going to the Governor’s desk.

SACRAMENTO - Today, Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) Senate Bill 964, the Behavioral Health Workforce Revitalization Act, passed the Senate in a unanimous, 40-0 concurrence vote. It will now head to Governor Gavin Newsom’s desk.

SACRAMENTO - Today, Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) Senate Bill 964, the Behavioral Health Workforce Revitalization Act, passed the Assembly in a bipartisan 60-0 vote. It will now go to the Senate for final sign off before heading to the Governor’s desk.

SACRAMENTO – Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco)’s legislation, Senate Bill 379, the Solar Access Act, has passed the Assembly by a vote of 50-7. It will now be sent back to the Senate for a concurrence vote before heading to the Governor’s desk for a final signature. SB 379 implements instant, online solar permitting in cities and counties.

SACRAMENTO - Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) Senate Bill 879, also known as the PET (Prohibiting Extraneous Testing) Act, passed the Assembly in a 59-0 vote. It will now head to the Senate for final sign off before going to the Governor’s desk.

SACRAMENTO - Today, Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco)’s Senate Bill 922 passed the  Assembly by a vote of 68-1. It now heads to the Senate for final sign off before going to Governor Newsom’s desk. SB 922 extends and improves upon Senator Wiener’s previous legislation (SB 288, 2020) to expedite bike, pedestrian, light rail, and rapid bus projects by exempting these environmentally sustainable projects from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). SB 922 will accelerate approval of sustainable, climate-friendly transportation projects.
