Dear Friend,
I hope you had a happy and eventful Pride month! Pride is always a time of joy, as well as time to reflect on how far our communities have come. I had a great time celebrating with many of you this past weekend. From marching in the San Francisco Pride Parade, to helping out at the 23rd annual Pink Triangle Ceremony, this year's Pride events reminded me of the amazing inclusivity and creativity found in San Francisco, the Bay Area, and in our LGBTQ community.
Thank you to all of you who came out to support our LGBTQ community and I hope you have a happy Fourth of July!
Sincerely,
Scott Wiener
Senator
This month the legislature passed a budget that I am happy to say reflects our shared California values. These investments include increasing funding to reduce homelessness, ensuring our education system gets back on track and serves our students, and fighting to reduce poverty throughout our State.
I was proud to fight for a number of key priorities in this budget including an increase in funding for homeless youth. This funding will help California to end the moral failing that is our youth homelessness crisis. California has 38% of the nation's homeless youth, and we need to do more to help these young people before they become chronically homeless adults. Coupled with my bill SB 918, which will require the Homeless Coordinating and Financing Council to set goals and map progress toward ending youth homelessness, this will be the most significant investment we have made to address this problem.
The budget also provides crucial funding for San Francisco, including for our seawall, which needs massive investments to strengthen it against earthquakes and sea level rise. I also worked to secure funding for the GLBT History Museum in San Francisco, so that we can continue to honor our community's history. These are just a few of the great priorities included in our state budget, among many.

Priority Architectural Graphics/ Juliana Choy Sommer
Priority Architectural Graphics was awarded the Small Business Award for San Francisco at the California State Legislature's Small Business Day 2018. California Small Business Day was created as an annual event to honor individual small business leaders and promote small business organizations throughout the state. The Spring event honors a select group of businesses and organizations which help fuel over 75% of the state's economy and over half the state's private sector jobs.
Senator Wiener nominated Priority Architectural Graphics for the small business award for San Francisco in recognition of the company's strong track record of performance, outstanding commitment to client service with their construction industry and general contractor customer base, and their strong support of the San Francisco community.
As a minority and women-owned business, Priority Architectural Graphics represents the best of San Francisco's heritage: entrepreneurialism, diversity, commercial success and strong business and community relationships. Juliana has been a role model for many San Francisco small business owners inspired by her passion for building valuable, local networks and pushing the envelope on creativity within the architectural signage and construction industries.
