Senator Wiener’s Statement on World AIDS Day

December 1, 2018

San Francisco-- Today, Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) released the following statement on World AIDS Day:

“HIV is still an epidemic, and we must continue our work to get to zero: zero new HIV infections, zero HIV-related deaths, and zero HIV stigma. Today, we remember those who have perished during the epidemic and recommit to ensuring those living with HIV have the support they need and that people who are negative have access to all prevention tools, including PrEP. We must also ensure that all communities - including low income people, people of color, and transgender people - receive the benefits of our advances around HIV, including access to medication and to PrEP. We’ve made many strides, but much work remains.”
