Sacramento - Today, Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 73, legislation authored by Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) to end mandatory minimum prison and jail sentences for nonviolent drug offenses. It will become law on January 1, 2021.

SACRAMENTO - Today, Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco)’s honesty in zoning legislation, Senate Bill 478, into law. SB 478 will officially become law on January 1, 2022.

SACRAMENTO - Today, Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) Senate Bill 10. SB 10 creates a streamlined process for cities to zone for missing middle multi-unit housing in a streamlined manner, without having to go through often-years-long environmental reviews.

SACRAMENTO - Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) Senate Bill 357, the Safer Streets for All Act, passed the Assembly by a vote of 41-26. It now heads to the Senate for a concurrence vote, and then to the Governor’s desk to be signed.

SACRAMENTO - Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) legislation, SB 221, which requires health plans and insurers to provide patients with timely follow-up care for mental health issues and substance use disorders, passed the Assembly by a bipartisan vote of 76-0 and the Senate on a bipartisan concurrence vote of 35-1. It now heads to the Governor’s desk for final approval.

SACRAMENTO - Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco)’s housing legislation, Senate Bill 478, passed the Assembly by a bipartisan vote of 56-14 and the Senate on a bipartisan concurrence vote of 30-6. SB 478 will now head to the Governor’s desk for final approval. It is sponsored by California YIMBY.

SACRAMENTO – Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) legislation, Senate Bill 110, passed both the Assembly and the Senate on concurrence with bipartisan, unanimous votes. It will now head to the Senate for a concurrence vote, and then to the Governor’s desk, where it can be signed into law.

SACRAMENTO - Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) Bar and Restaurant Recovery Act, Senate Bill 314, passed the Assembly and the Senate on concurrence with unanimous, bipartisan votes. It will now head to the Governor’s desk where it can be signed into law.

SACRAMENTO - Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco)’s Housing Data Act, Senate Bill 477, passed the Assembly by a bipartisan vote of 71-1, and the Senate on a bipartisan concurrence vote of 37-0. SB 477 will now head to the Governor’s desk for final approval. This legislation is sponsored by California YIMBY and SPUR.
