San Francisco – Today, Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) joined state and local legislators, business leaders, and advocates to announce a bill to support women in the workplace by requiring lactation facilities and resources be provided to employees in California. The announcement took place at San Francisco-based company Stitch Fix, whose CEO Katrina Lake has been a leader in providing comprehensive lactation facilities and promoting other family-friendly policies.

Sacramento –  Today Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Assemblymember Marc Levine (D-Marin County) announced the introduction of SB 923, which sets statewide eyewitness identification standards to help prevent misidentifications that lead to innocent people being convicted and actual perpetrators remaining free. SB 923 is sponsored by the California Innocence Coalition and the ACLU of California.

Sacramento –  Today Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Assemblywoman Blanca E. Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) joined advocates for youth experiencing homelessness to introduce a new bill to help the rising number of homeless youth in California. SB 918 is sponsored by the California Coalition for Youth, Tipping Point Community, Equality California, John Burton Advocates for Youth, the Corporation for Supportive Housing, and Housing California.

Sacramento –  Today Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) announced a bill, sponsored by San Francisco District Attorney George Gascón, to close a loophole that hampers prosecutions for automobile break-ins. Senate Bill 916 allows prosecutors to prove that a defendant committed an auto burglary by showing that he or she broke a car window to get into the car. Currently, proving that the defendant broke a window is often deemed insufficient.

San Francisco –  Today Dr. Richard Pan (D-Sacramento) and Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) along with co-authors Assemblymembers David Chiu (D-San Francisco) and Phil Ting (D-San Francisco) and supporters announced the introduction of a Senate Bill 892, which will officially recognize Lunar New Year in the state of California. The announcement came at a press conference hosted by the Chinese Cultural Center in San Francisco’s Chinatown neighborhood.

Sacramento –  Today Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) announced the introduction of  Senate Bill 905, which will allow – but not require – cities to extend sales of alcohol at bars, nightclubs, and restaurants (but not liquor stores) to as late as 4 a.m.

Sacramento –  Today Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) announced the introduction of  his California Fruit and Vegetable EBT Pilot Project bill, which aims to make California-grown fresh fruits and vegetables more affordable for CalFresh recipients. Senate Bill 900 helps low-income Californians purchase healthier food by allowing CalFresh recipients to earn extra CalFresh funds by purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables grown in California.
