Senator Wiener Responds To Desperate Trump Lawsuit Against Senator Wiener’s Law to Ban ICE Masking

SAN FRANCISCO – President Trump’s appointed U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California announced that the Trump Administration is suing to block the No Secret Police Act, California’s groundbreaking law that Senator Wiener authored to prohibit state and federal law enforcement from extreme face masking. Last week, Trump’s own FBI released a memo warning that ICE’s secret police tactics are undermining public safety by inspiring armed criminals to impersonate ICE officers, and advised ICE agents to begin identifying themselves to protect the public.

Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco), the author of the No Secret Police Act, issued the following statement in response:

“The Trump Administration is once again proving that they care more about their own unchecked power to kidnap and intimidate than they do about lowering the cost of living, following the Constitution, or releasing the Epstein files. Trump’s own FBI recently warned that ICE’s secret police tactics are undermining public safety and advised ICE to take the masks off and act like servants of the public instead of masked thugs preparing to rob a liquor store. Despite what these would-be authoritarians claim, no one is above the law. We’ll see you in court.”
