Senator Wiener’s Statement on the Supreme Court Striking Down Trump's Effort to End DACA

Sacramento - Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) released the following statement today, after the Supreme Court blocked President Trump from ending DACA, which protects undocumented people, brought to this country as children, from deportation.

“Today’s Supreme Court ruling is a big win for nearly a million Dreamers, who came here as children and are as American as anyone else. We now need to make DACA permanent, in addition to much broader immigration reform. Immigrants belong here, and helped make our nation what it is. We need to send a clear message  in November that the era of demonizing immigrants is over.”
