Senator Wiener Slams Trump’s Illegal, Absurd Childcare Funding Cuts

SACRAMENTO – President Trump illegally froze $10 billion in federal childcare and social services funding to five Democrat-led states: California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, and New York. 

Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) issued the following statement in response:

“Trump is now illegally freezing childcare and other funding for working families, but only in blue states. He says it’s because of ‘fraud,’ but it has nothing to do with fraud and everything to do with politics. Florida had the largest Medicaid fraud in U.S. history yet isn’t on this list. Trump is a petty tyrant who is literally letting children go hungry, for the second time in two months, to gain the tiniest political advantage. We will sue him for this lawless act, and we will once again win.”
