Senator Wiener’s Statement on World AIDS Day

December 1, 2017

San Francisco –  Today Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) released the following statement on World AIDS Day, which was first celebrated in 1988:

"On this World AIDS Day, I’m proud to stand with everyone who continues to fight the spread of HIV and works to improve the lives of those living with HIV, as well as to remember those who have passed away. We have made a lot of progress in our fight against HIV, but we have a lot more work to do. We must continue to work to reduce stigma and help people access prevention and treatment services, particularly transgender people and low-income people of color who are most at-risk for infection. Together, we can help people live longer, healthier lives, and also end new HIV infections."
