Sacramento –  Today the California State Senate finally passed Senate Bill 785 -- a bill by Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (D-San Diego) to protect immigrants from irrelevant disclosures of their immigration status in open court. The bill passed in Senate by a vote of 31-6 with both Democrats and Republicans in support. SB 785 previously passed the Assembly on Monday with bipartisan vote of 67-1.

Sacramento - California State Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and New York State Senator Brad Hoylman (D/WF-Manhattan)  announced today that they are collaborating on a bicoastal effort to restore the rights of an open and free internet through net neutrality legislation. Senator Hoylman is introducing legislation based on Senator Wiener’s California Senate Bill 822, which is considered the most comprehensive and strongest in the nation.

Sacramento –  Today the California State Assembly passed Senate Bill 785 -- a bill by Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (D-San Diego) to protect immigrants from irrelevant disclosures of their immigration status in open court. SB 785 passed the Assembly with bipartisan support by a vote of 67-1.  It now returns to the Senate for a final vote next week before heading to the Governor for approval.

San Francisco –  Today the California State Transportation Agency announced grant funding from the state Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP) would include funding for three projects which Senator Wiener advocated funding for: BART’s Corridor Core Capacity Program, PCJPB’s Peninsular Corridor Expansion Project, and SFMTA’s Transit Capacity Expansion Program.  Senator Wiener released the following statement:

Sacramento – A bill by Senators Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Henry Stern (D-Canoga Park) to expand and strengthen California conservatorship laws passed its second Senate policy committee yesterday with unanimous and bipartisan support.

Sacramento–  Senator Scott Wiener’s (D-San Francisco) bill to restore net neutrality in California passed the Senate Judiciary Committee today. Senate Bill 822 restores the net neutrality protections put in place by the Federal Communications Commission under President Obama in 2015. These protections were repealed by the FCC under President Trump.
